Tracy’s Kids Art Therapy Program Job Opportunities
Tracy’s Kids is a program of the Prevent Cancer Foundation. Our mission is to develop and support art therapy programs in pediatric hematology-oncology treatment programs in the Washington, DC metro area.
Our present locations include:
• Flagship program at Georgetown University Hospital’s Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, started in 1991
• Program at Children’s National Medical Center started in 2006
During the coming months, Tracy’s Kids Art Therapy Program will be creating two Art Therapist positions in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology. Both Art Therapists will be employees of Children’s National Medical Center. Program Director Tracy Councill, MA, ATR-BC, will provide training, clinical supervision and site visits in support of all Tracy’s Kids art therapy programs.
Two new opportunities:
• One art therapist will join Kathleen Barron, MA, on the CNMC campus in Washington, DC working with both inpatients and outpatients in the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders.
• The other will implement an art therapy program for a CNMC outpatient Hematology-Oncology practice in Northern Virginia.
Qualifications include:
• Master’s in Art Therapy
• ATR-BC preferred
• Experience in medical art therapy and/or resilience-based art therapy practice preferred

Art Therapists work in the Rehab Therapy Department with Music and Recreation Therapists.

Coalinga State Hospital is a new facility treating sex offenders. There is the opportunity to design sex offender specific Art Therapy groups.

Program Assistant Positions Available – Part Time
Spring Semester (February - June 2008)
Project Create, a non-profit organization that provides free arts classes to children living in emergency,transitional, and affordable family housing programs in Washington, DC, seeks part-time program assistants forthe spring 2008 semester. We are looking for individuals who have experience in the arts and/or education and has an interest in working with children at-risk situations. Stipend will be offered.
The Program Assistants’ primary responsibilities will be managing our relationships at our partner sites, which includes supervising up to 3 classes a week.
Classes meet for 15weeks (Feb 4 – May 30). Each class meets for one to two hours, depending on the class. Class times are between 4:00 and 8:00pm.
The candidate should have a car (or access to one as some of our sites are not metrorail accessible & there will be art supplies & finished projects that they will be responsible for transporting to and from the sites).
The candidate should be comfortable working with at-risk youth in inner city neighborhoods. Our classes take place at the following locations:
