Positive Psychology: The Art of Happiness
Friday, January 25th 5-7pm
Presenters:

Description:
This lecture will explore the connections between art therapy and the modem “science of happiness.” The latest research findings from the field of Positive Psychology will be presented, as well as the connection between positive emotions, art making, and health benefits. Recent classification of human core virtues such as wisdom and knowledge, courage, justice, humanity, temperance, and transcendence and current and future applications of positive psychology to the field of art therapy will be examined.
Participants will:
1. Demonstrate understanding of Martin Seligman’s definition of “authentic
happiness” and Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi’s definition of “flow.”
2. Become knowledgeable about art therapy methods which aid in creating positive
emotions.
3. Explore the connections between the field of art therapy and positive psychology.
CEUs will be offered.
Please note this will *not* take place in the Art Therapy Building.
